wiggio.com - wigging out on group management

I’ve long had an interest in group or club  management, for a couple of reasons. First, I’ve had some ideas of my own about using the Interweb to make lives easier for young people who want to collaborate in some way. Second, because I’m somebody who could benefit from good group and project management solutions. All of this, and the fact that the founders are recent Cornell University grads, makes wiggio a good candidate as the first company I’d like to discuss here on entreAllure.

Their solution, which is currently in beta, has a couple of interesting draws. A unique feature is its mass-texting ability, wherein any of your group members who have chosen to enter their phone number as part of their profile can be sent a text message by any other member. They leverage this feature to allow users to request reminders about new group postings and about soon-occurring group meetings. Other services exist (and plenty of them) to this same effect, but the integration with other group-oriented features is a definite wiggio draw.

As it is today, wiggio does not have the full feature-set it promises. The wiggio team plans on adding a voice note layer of messaging on top of its e-mail and text layers; this feature may not, however, prove as useful as the text messaging feature currently implemented, as users without the ability to efficiently sift through voice messages would probably prefer the speed and convenience of texts.

No news yet about funding or the future of wiggio, but start-up guru Tom O’Keefe speaks their praises in a May 16th post. I’ll be keeping an eye on these guys, but regardless of their future, it’s always good to see Cornellians exhibiting the entrepreneurial spirit.

I’m quite busy with a couple of new toys, so I’ll edit soon and explain a bit more, but suffice it to say that this is the begining of a blog about entrepreneurship for young people.

Sufficient?

Didn’t think so. But, to hold you over: techCrunch.
